Cookie Policy
This policy explains which cookies karmakrew.tv uses, what they are for, and how you control them. It applies to every page on karmakrew.tv, including the blog articles.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device so it can recognise your browser later. Similar techniques, such as local storage and tracking pixels, are covered by this policy as well.
The choice we ask you to make
When you first visit, we ask whether we may use two optional kinds of cookies: analytics and marketing. You can allow both, neither, or one of the two, rejecting is as easy as accepting, and you can use the whole site either way.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil, Quebec, South Korea, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, China and Thailand, a window asks before anything optional runs, and both stay off until you allow them.
- Everywhere else, a small bar at the bottom of the page asks, and both run until you reject them, in line with local law, which asks for a notice and a way to refuse.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a no: both stay off unless you allow them yourself.
To know which of the two applies, the site asks Cloudflare, which protects it, for the country of your connection. That country is used for this one decision and is not stored.
Your answer is kept for 180 days. When this policy or the choice we ask for changes, we ask again. Each answer is also counted, without any personal data (only the answer itself, its version and the time), so we know how many visitors accept.
Which cookies we use
Necessary
These make the site work and remember your choice. They need no consent.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
kk_consent |
karmakrew.tv | Remembers your answer for analytics and marketing, with the date and the version of the question | 180 days |
__cf_bm |
Cloudflare | Tells real visitors from automated bots while a security check runs | 30 minutes |
cf_clearance |
Cloudflare | Remembers that you passed a security check, so it is not repeated on every page | Up to 30 days |
Cloudflare protects the site against attacks. Its cookies contain no personal data we can read.
Analytics, only if you allow it
We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages are visited, from which countries, and which links people use. This tells us which servers and articles matter to you.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google Analytics | Tells one visitor's browser from another with a random number | 2 years |
_ga_QBZ9T03B13 |
Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current visit | 2 years |
Google Analytics 4 does not store your IP address. We do not use Google's advertising features or "Google signals" in Analytics, and we keep the reports for 14 months.
Marketing, only if you allow it
We advertise on Google. To learn which of our ads work, Google Ads records when someone who arrived through one of our ads then joins our Discord. That is all it is used for: we do not use it to follow you to other websites or to build a profile of you.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_gcl_au, _gcl_aw, _gcl_gs |
Google Ads | Remember which of our ads brought you here, so a later Discord join can be counted for that ad | 90 days |
IDE, test_cookie |
Google (doubleclick.net) | Google's own ad measurement | 13 months, 15 minutes |
NID |
Google (google.com) | Google's own ad measurement and settings | 6 months |
How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Advertising by Journey, on blog articles only
The articles on our blog show ads served by Journey by Mediavine. Journey and its advertising partners use cookies and similar techniques to show and measure ads, and on article pages they ask for your permission in their own consent window, which is separate from ours. That window lists every partner and what each one does, and it lets you change your choice later. Journey's own cookie notice is at https://www.journeymv.com/cookie-notice/ and its privacy contact is [email protected].
Journey's ads and cookies appear on the blog articles only, never on the rest of the site.
Embedded videos
Some pages contain YouTube videos. They load in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and only after you press play, so YouTube sets no cookies until you do. Once you press play, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
What we do not use
We set no profiling or social media tracking cookies of our own, and no functional cookies beyond the one that stores your choice. Links to Discord, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram are plain links.
Changing your mind
- Use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to change your answer at any time. Switching analytics or marketing off deletes the Google cookies that were set for it.
- On a blog article, Journey's consent window has its own settings link for its advertising cookies.
- Your browser can block or delete cookies for every site. Blocking the necessary cookies may cause Cloudflare's security check to appear more often.
Who is responsible
KarmaKrew is responsible for the cookies described here. Google and Journey by Mediavine act as separate parties for the processing described in their own policies. How we handle personal data in general is described in our Privacy Policy.
